Top Five Feminine Summer Essentials
Welcome ladies, to my little list of feminine summer essentials! These are the items that I absolutely must have in order to truly enjoy the summer weather while also feeling stylish and comfortable.
1. Espadrilles
I loooove espadrilles, always have, always will! For me, they are the quintessential summer shoe and I love how they have become more mainstream over the last decade. Every major shoe designer has their own version out now but I am a huge fan of Castañer.
Founded in 1927 in Catalonia, they rose to fame after Yves Saint-Laurent contacted them seeking to create a “wedge” espadrille. The rest is history!
Absolute must-have feminine summer staple: The Espadrille.
Their Carina model above is my favorite for everyday wear. The heel is high enough to elongate your silhouette but low enough to be comfortable. I also tend to choose neutral colors as they are more flattering for those of us not blessed with supermodel legs.
2. White Broderie Anglaise Sundress
Every summer without fail, I long to wear this style of dress in white especially. Any other color could be just as feminine but there is something about a crisp, clean, white dress that just typifies the idyllic languor of a summer afternoon.
3. Oversized JackiE O. Sunglasses
The classic Jackie O. oversized sunglasses suit almost every face shape and are just ideal for summer as they cover more surface area and prevent squinting (which helps keep eye wrinkles at bay).
I don’t think I could go back to wearing other types of sunglasses as I really miss the protection!
You don’t need to spend a lot on this item to look stylish. Just make sure the lenses offer 100% UV protection.

4. Wide Brimmed Sun Hat
As an added layer of protection against those harmful rays, why not look extra glamorous and don a wide brimmed hat? I call it a win-win.

I’ve always been obsessed with Scarlett O’Hara’s marvelous hat with ribbon she wore to the barbecue scene at Twelve Oaks. I think it also adds an air of mystery, n’est-ce pas?
5. Wicker Handbag
There’s something so quaint and heartwarming about wicker baskets. They make me feel as though I were living in a fairy tale or off to a romantic picnic.
I also love raffia or straw clutches & totes… I especially love the ones you can find at street markets when on holiday.
Whenever you wear the item, you will be reminded of those carefree days. It’s also fun to get some with a cute saying or your name embroidered on it.
