Ballet Beautiful Review

Are you looking for a feminine, graceful, yet challenging and effective low-impact workout you can do in the privacy of your own home? During these uncertain times, Ballet Beautiful offers the perfect workout you can do just about anywhere. Read on to hear all about my almost five years’ experience with this program!

What is Ballet Beautiful?

Ballet Beautiful was founded by ballerina Mary Helen Bowers. She was a member of the corps de ballet at New York City Ballet for ten years and famously used her system to train Natalie Portman for her role in “Black Swan.”

I have been a loyal “Ballet Beauty” since October 2015. I had been doing the “Tracy Anderson Method” for four years before then and was desperately yearning for something more graceful and feminine but mistakenly assumed that this would mean I would no longer get the results I was seeing from my more high-impact workouts.

One fateful day, I decided to try one of the Ballet Beautiful exercises which were available on Youtube and my goodness, was I surprised! The movements that appeared so simple and easy were killer! I had found my new workout and never looked back.

The Online Custom Workout – Ballet Beautiful Review

I proceeded to read her book Ballet Beautiful and learned that Ballet Beautiful was more than just a great workout – it’s a whole lifestyle! She offers tips on mindset, dieting (she doesn’t believe in it!) and even recipes and meal plans. If you are considering trying this workout, I cannot recommend the book enough – it will really make a difference in terms of your results and motivation!

I signed up for the Custom Workout which offers you access to her workout library – tons of wonderful videos ( you get 2 new workouts per month). You can choose between “fat blaster,” “full body,” “arms & abs,” or “legs & butt” combined with your availability ” light, moderate, or ideal.”

Introduction to the Custom Workout (it’s been updated since then and now offers more options)

Most of the workouts are quite challenging so if you are a beginner please take it easy and be gentle with yourself. Like I said, I had been doing the “Tracy Anderson Method” for four years and I still found this workout to be quite the challenge!

Don’t worry though, the exercises are so targeted you will build strength and flexibility very quickly. The amazing thing is that even though I have been doing this program for almost five years now, I have never plateaued or gotten bored. There are always new workouts and movements.

Feel like a Ballerina

I forgot to mention one of the best parts! You get to shop at dance stores, buy ballet slippers, leotards, leg warmers, you name it! All without the pressure to be ultra thin or super flexible. (Of course this part is optional but I just love wearing my ballet clothes for the workout!)

And no, you don’t need to have any dance or ballet experience to follow the workouts. It might be a bit tricky in the beginning but I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it in no time!

A Feast for the Eyes

Mary Helen is so elegant and charming, it’s really a pleasure to “hang out” with her on a regular basis. I love her style and every video is a feast for the eyes. Classical music accompanies you as you plié and relevé all in the comfort of your own home. It’s really a dream come true, at least it is for me!

The best part? I can see myself doing these workouts for many, many years to come. This is a sustainable, low-impact, effective workout that you can do pretty much anywhere. Mary Helen, please keep making these videos forever!

Some Recommendations

If you’d like to try the program but not ready to sign up for the Custom Workout yet …

  • Try some of the available workouts for free on Youtube such as the one above.

  • If you’d like to try more, I would suggest the Body Recharge series (available from the BB website). This series was designed for anybody wanting to get back in shape after a long break. Alternatively, a DVD I love is the Swan Arms Cardio DVD ( also available on itunes).

Body Recharge Series is a great place to start!

  • If you’re ready to begin your ballet transformation then read the book Ballet Beautiful and sign up for the Custom Workout!

  • There is a Ballet Beautiful Challenge happening right now – why not join in on the fun?

I hope you found my Ballet Beautiful Review helpful!

P.S. If you want to learn how to easily and effortlessly feel feminine then you need to join my free Feminine Every Day 5 Day Challenge!
