5 Tips for a Classy Christmas

Remember what it's all about:

'Tis the season to rejoice! Rejoice in Christ's arrival! Try not to get lost in the many material aspects of the holiday. It is so easy to forget what it's all about. So what if the turkey/goose is a bit dry? Who cares if the tablecloth has some wrinkles in it? Does it really matter that you didn't get the gift you wanted? Keep the bigger picture in mind: you are celebrating the arrival of our savior and what matters most is that you keep calm and be present, while enjoying this special time with your family and loved ones.

Keep Busy:

If you are in a large group, discussions and arguments can easily escalate (especially if somebody mentions politics!). The secret is to keep the family busy and entertained. This is where board games come in! Any game will do, but we're rather partial to Trivial Pursuit or charades. This way everyone focuses on winning the game, and the more "difficult" in the group can channel their competitiveness toward the game instead.

Get Outdoors:

This might sound trite but it's truly astounding what a brisk walk can do for your mood and overall well-being. Even a 5 or 10 minute stroll can make all the difference. Let all those petty annoyances go and feel refreshed and invigorated! No matter the weather, just get out there! :)

Enjoy Every Moment:

You don't know what will happen next year - life can be very unpredictable. Enjoy every moment with your loved ones. Try to think of one quality you appreciate in each person you are celebrating with.

Indulge!

And lastly, if all else fails, indulge in some delicious treats! Don't worry about all those calories for a few days! You can lose the extra few pounds in the new year! Isn't that what New Year's Resolutions are for?
