What a treat for you today, ladies! A little chat with none other than New York Times bestselling author of the wonderful Madame Chic series, Jennifer L. Scott!

It is such an honor to welcome you, dear Jennifer, to the Not-So Desperate Housewives community!  I am such a huge fan of your Madame Chic trilogy and your Youtube channel. Is there a fourth book in the Madame Chic series coming soon?

Thank you! I am working on a new book but always like to keep my book topics very secretive until they are finished : )

Jennifer L. Scott's wonderful Madame Chic series is an absolute must-read!

Ooh! Can't wait! Do you think the way homemakers and stay-at-home moms are perceived in our society will change after the COVID-19 crisis?

I do think that stay-at-home mothers and homemakers will be perceived differently after the COVID-19 crisis. A lot of people are realizing the tremendous work that goes into being a homemaker. I also think that homemaking itself will change after this pandemic.

Homemakers are rediscovering many lost arts by making food from scratch that they previously bought in the store. Other home arts like sewing, and gardening are very in fashion right now too. I think it's wonderful.

What is the hardest part of being a modern homemaker? The most rewarding?

The hardest part of being a modern homemaker is definitely the distractions we face. Prior generations weren't tempted with 24/7 entertainment like we are. People are torn between accomplishing things and binge watching Netflix.

Our phones always beckon us to scroll Instagram or other social media platforms. This is actually very detrimental to homemaking. I would say the most rewarding aspect of modern homemaking is the ability to make our homes a curated space where, as Charlotte Mason said, our atmosphere can "set our affection".

How do you deal with perfectionism (in your professional and home life)?

I just let it go. When you have small children, your perfectionist tendencies will be dramatically tested. What you deem as acceptable will change.

Over time that will change too. I'm less about perfection and more about enjoying the moment.

Amen to that! Could you tell us a bit more about your brand new online course β€œCarry yourself with Poise”? *

"Carry Yourself with Poise" is an eCourse where I encourage women to live with beauty, class, and dignity. This course is striking a chord with the ladies who are there. They are a remarkable group of like-minded women and we are bonding over the content.

It discusses everything from the "seen" aspects of cultivating poise to the "unseen". If you had a beautiful diamond ring, you would need to polish it regularly to keep it clean, otherwise it would start to look dingy and dirty. Our poise is a beautiful gem... a rarity that requires regular polishes to stay au courant.

My hope with this eCourse, is that we cover the comprehensive bases that are required to stand out from the crowd and live a beautiful and refined life, with poise, as elegant women. I am so excited for you to join us on this life-changing journey.

Thank you for reading this far! I hope you've enjoyed my little chat with Jennifer L. Scott. To join the wonderful course, "Carry yourself with Poise" click here*!

See you there!

In the meantime, stay safe and healthy.

xoxo, Mrs. Hannover
