5 More Feminine Fall Must-Haves

My dear Ladies, it’s officially fall and I for one am looking forward to the wondrous foliage and cozy nights in by the fire. Autumn fashion is so lovely and can be very feminine with the right touches. Without further ado, here are five more feminine fall must-haves:

1. The Tartan Coat

Yes, the tartan coat is a feminine fall classic that is here to stay. The Duchess of Cambridge (or Countess of Strathearn as she is known in Scotland) has worn some gorgeous ones throughout the years. Choose a color that suits you or, if you have Scottish ancestry, why not have one made in your own tartan? (This would make such a great heirloom piece).

As always, make sure it’s belted or fitted at the waist to accentuate your femininity. Designers famous for their tartan are Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Ralph Lauren, and of course Burberry. To read more about the colored history of this fabric check out this fabulous glossy edition, Tartan: Romancing the Plaid.

2. The Off-the-Shoulder Sweater

The Lorna Assymetric Knitted top by Reiss.

An off-the-shoulder sweater can be very seductive – you don’t have to risk getting a cold though! A trick I learned is to get a top in a nude color matching your skin tone so it gives the appearance of your shoulder but keeps you warm in the colder months.

I own the Reiss top above and absolutely love it. It’s sophisticated and modern but also very feminine in my opinion.

3. The Cloche Hat

Blair Waldorf, Gossip Girl.

You don’t have to be Blair Waldorf or Lady Mary to sport the classic cloche hat. If you enjoy wearing hats then definitely give the cloche a try.

Available in virtually every color and style, the choices are practically endless. For ease of use, get one in a color that already matches your other accessories such as your gloves, scarf, or bag. You can find some amazing handmade and unique pieces on Etsy.

4. A Burgundy Manicure

Ah, the burgundy manicure! It just wouldn’t be fall without it.

Chanel’s “Rouge Noir” (closer to the original shade “Vamp” than the newly reformulated “Vamp”) is the absolute classic shade but I personally prefer something a little lighter.

I am also very conscious of the chemicals that are in most nail polishes so I try to buy from organic brands using less damaging ingredients (current favorite being Kure Bazaar).

For many years now I do my own nails at home and I’ve gotten rather good at it, if I may say so myself. If you’d like to give it a go check out Jennifer L. Scott’s video below for a great tutorial on at-home manicuring.

And if you’d like to look at other more daring colors for your autumn manicure check out this Good Housekeeping article.

5. Tortoise Shell

Michael Kors tortoise shell sunglasses

There’s something so elegant and timeless about tortoise shell accessories! (Synthetic of course – it is now illegal to trade real tortoise shell as they are an endangered species).

I have hair clips, headbands, belt buckles, and sunglasses in this classic and durable material. I think a nice cuff, bracelet, or even a tortoise shell wristwatch would look so chic in the fall.

Lately I’ve even been contemplating dressing up my phone in this shade for the colder months. Do you change your phone case according to season? I never have so far but why not?

What about your perfume? Let me know about you autumnal rituals in the comments below – I love hearing from you!

With Love,

Mrs. Hannover
